Apart from the cell phone and personal entertainment market, the application of the touch screen is also increasing in the industries of car multimedia, laptop computer and E-Book. The resistance type touch screen has been used for many years, but the capacitive type will be the tendency of future development, because its operation is more human-based. The cell phone of iPhone and the laptop computer of iPad all use the capacitive type, and its application is becoming wider.
The technology of the resistance type touch screen is cheap and mature, which is used most in the small size cell phone. The growth rate of the cell phone touch panel will be thirty-three percent from 2009 to 1013. The demand of the touch panel is three hundred million, the demand of the resistance type and capacitive type are 198 million and 96 million respectively in the year of 2010. Thus it can be seen that the capacitive type is going to replace the resistance type. With the cost reduction of capacitive type and its application in the Smart Phone, the market share of the resistance type will reduce rapidly.
7 Lcd Touchscreen
From the view of laptop computer, the capacity type touch screen's permeability in the laptop computer and Netbook are 3.7% and 25% respectively. With the appearance of windows 7 and iPad, the capacitive type's application will be more and more in the laptop computer.
There are two main developing directions of the touch screen technology; one is the multi-point touch which is close to the technology of induction. The multi-point touch enables many people work on the same screen, such as playing games, drawing pictures, engineering design and image processing. The other tendency is to integrate the touch screen with the LCD display. Currently, many manufacturers have begun the development of embedded products to reduce the cost and thickness.
